This gorgeous bench from a great Texas estate features inlaid wood designs on the back, arms, and seat. The legs also have faces carved directly into the front legs as opposed to being carved and stuck onto the legs. The piece measures about 46" high, 49 1/2" wide and 19 1/2" deep. I believe that it is Italian in origin. A student from Sam Houston State University researched it for her term paper in an interior decorating class and said that it dates to the 1700s. I don't know but I know it is an antique and that it is not a reproduction. One little piece of the inlay on the front edge is missing and a few small areas on the seat have some discoloration but overall the bench is in very good to excellent condition and is very sturdy. Ruby Lane's listing form requires a shipping cost but this piece is for pick up only from our shop in Conroe, Texas 77301 so I have put $1,000 for shipping to highlight the fact that it is for pick up only. Texas residents to pay 8 1/4% sales tax or provide exemption information.
