I am not expert in antique books so I will describe what I see with the books received from a fine Texas estate and will answer any questions. The first book I'm listing is an Original Ballads and Sonnets by D. G. Rossetti - 1881 Boston Roberts Brothers. As I understand it there were three "editions" issued in 1881 but the text was not reset until the fourth in 1882. I don't know if that makes this 1881 version that was published by the Roberts Brothers of Boston from sheets provided to them from the second printing run, done by Chiswick Press:-Charles Wittingham and Co. , Tooks Court, Chancery Lane, a first edition or not. Chiswick Press name and address is on one of the last pages in the book. The pages of the book show some foxing and minor staining, primarily at the front and back. Most pages look like photo 6. I only found two pages with more major issues, see photo 6. There is a dirty place on the left, page 248 which has discolored the next page 249. Otherwise the book appears to be in good readable condition. There are 335 numbered pages. As shown in photos 5, 8, & 9 there is some separation of the pages from the binding but all pages are present. I have also shown several photos of the cover with some bent corners, dirt and scuffing. Even with these condition issues I believe that the book is rare and desirable and is being offered at a reasonable price. Watch for additional listings from this estate.
