Fresh from a fine Texas estate comes this 19th Century tea caddy which measures about 14” wide, 8 ½” deep and 8 ½” high. It has burled walnut on the top and front but a mahogany looking wood on the two sides and back. The burl walnut has some cracking, the worst section is the back right top as shown in the last photo. The hinges and brass lock are in place and look original but there is no key to lock the piece. Both side lids are still intact but there is no top for the center bowl. There are small knobs on each side that have holes in them which may have had loops to hold brass rings to lift the caddy but currently there are just holes.
