Lovely handpainted bowl and plate set from noted Pickard artist Frederick Kriesche is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines and virtually no gold loss. The plate is 10 ½” across and the matching bowl is 8” across and 2 3/8” high. Both are artist signed but the bowl is easier to read. Both are Limoges blanks from Gerard, Dufraisseix, and Abbot from the early 1900’s which matches the Pickard Studios Mark 5 on the pieces which was used between 1905 and 1910. The bowl and plate both have center decorations with three violets surrounded by leaves outlining the veins in gold. The outside of the pieces have single violets with leaves on each side with the same gold treatment. The pieces have a pale yellow background with a warm blush. Connecting the sections of leaves and violets are intricate hand painted patterns that have red curly lines.
