Stunning Set of 12 Henrich & Co. Dinner/Charger Plates
The plates are highly decorated with a beautiful greenish background and fantastic gold overlay. You will not find a more decorated or beautiful set of Heinrich plates. The gold design is in excellent condition with no wear.
The plates are properly signed. The plates were made for import by the well-known and prestigious Ovington’s of New York. Ovingtons was a fine retail store in New York City. Only the best wares were commissioned and imported for Ovingtons, importers and dealers of high quality European glassware and porcelains. The company began with brothers Theodore and Edward S. Ovington in 1845 and the company operated two department stores, one at Fifth Avenue in New York City and one in Brooklyn (which was a massive six-story brick building filled top to bottom with quality imports from Europe!) The plates also have the WARRIN mark, so they were decorated by George Warrin, who died under tragic circumstances in 1914. Warrin was a famous and well-respected china decorator/painter that also painted Limgoes plates sold at Ovington’s. This mark helps to date the plates.
Plate: 11" inches diameter
There are 12 plates in the set and all are in perfect condition with no chips, repairs or wear marks. There are no knife marks and I assume the set was never used, other than as part of a showcase display.
