This German sauce boat has a sauce bowl connected to a drip plate and a matching cover. It boosts a very unusual shape and a very delicate floral design with gilding. The following marks appear on the bottom; "Germany", "2132", "71", a crown over R & C in cross swords. According to Kovels' New Dictionary of Marks, this is the mark of Philip Rosenthal & Co. (which is still in business today at Rosenthal & Co) and was made sometime between 1901-1956. It is in good condition with no cracks or chips although it does have a bit of crazing on the underside of the lid that I tried to show in one of the pictures. The gilding is worn but still has a substantial amount visible. The widest point of the plate measures 7 1/2" and the bowl 5" wide while the height measures 5".
