A c. 1800 Louis XVI-Directoire cherrywood Buffet a Deux Corps - a tour de force of timber selection combined with harmonious design. The well carved panel below the flat molded, deeply projected crown molding plays perfectly with the apron carving. Fluting and stop fluting repeat from top to base, while each door and drawer incorporates a flattened molding reflecting both the apron edge and crown. The selection of tiger cherry in the panels accentuates the repetitive design of the entire piece. 96 1/2" h., 26" d., 65 3/4" w.
