ISRAELI SILVERSMITHS ARE CONSIDERED THE BEST IN THE WORLD, IMBUED WITH CENTURIES OLD TRADITION OF SILVER AND GOLD JEWELRY MAKING.
From my personal collection- In late 1980’s , combining sterling silver with gold or gold vermeil in jewelry designs became all the rage among the Israeli artists. At the time, I purchased quite a number of their unusual jewelry, both earrings and necklaces.
The pair of earrings offered here, by an Israeli designer, has a very unusual and striking design Unfortunately, I cannot decipher the designer’s signature …. Their long and oblong form sculptured in sterling silver has a fluted and intricately designed surface. It conveys a feeling of nature -- folds of earth on a plain… Some of the fluted folds are crafted in 14 KT vermeil on sterling silver. At the top of each earring, a round black natural onyx cabochons is nestled within the fluted folds. The earrings are very striking, not heavy and look wonderful on the ear. The smooth polished obverse side of the earrings , has a very comfortable clip and is stamped with the hallmark value of the silver as well as has an engraved (in Hebrew) signature of the artist.
