Carol Dauplais believed that style is a life necessity, not luxury.

From my personal collection-- One day, in the late 1970's, in Bloomingdale’s, New York, I bought two very attractive designer sweater dresses. One was black and the other: a light shade of royal blue and both badly needed an adornment. So, while browsing the jewelry department, my eyes caught the site of two very unusual and stunning brooches.. and, I purchased them both.

This beautiful and unusual art form brooch here represents the oversized sculpture in metal jewelry trends of the 1970’s. It is crafted in a filigree, open work design 24K gold plate matte metal . The slightly puffed intricate gold-tone design looks hand made . Set with large, bezel-set, sparkling oval red and shades of green Jelly Belly cabochons, the brooch is reminiscent of a luminous Christmas tree decoration and would look stunning on almost any color outfit The back of the brooch has a cartouche with the DAUPLAIS signature.

You are invited to visit our store and enjoy additional DAUPLAIS jewelry as well as other vintage collections. THANK YOU FOR BROWSING!

About Carol Dauplais (1938-2016)- At the time of my 1970’s purchase, I was not familiar with Carol Dauplais' designs nor did I care about the signature on the back of the brooch. In the process of studying the American contemporary fashion jewelry designers , and in preparation for the opening of THE VINTAGE CORNUCOPIA, I have learned that Carol Dauplais was a leader in the fashion /trend as the president of the Miriam Haskell Jewelry Company before branching out, in 1978, establishing her own brand and an eponymous jewelry design and manufacturing company. DAUPLAIS Company designs have gained a wide popularity and had established her as a leader in the fashion jewelry world. Even though Carol Dauplais had been killed in a tragic accident on a New York street, in February 2016, the DAUPLAIS company continues to create new designs and to manufacture jewelry for designers
