A RAISED ELEPHANT’S TRUNK IS BELIEVED TO BE A SYMBOL OF GOOD LUCK….
From my personal collection— Baccarat crystal is my second (after Murano…) favorite medium as far as glass art is concerned. It is impeccably crafted, handmade and magnificently designed.
The baby elephant sculpture offered here is no exception. From the Africa themed Tanganyika Collection by the renowned American animal sculptor, Loet Vanderveen, the sculpture is brilliant. The world-renowned craftsmen and glass makers have exquisitely crafted this incredible elephant to glowing perfection in the sparkling clarity of the mouth blown Baccarat crystal. It is designed with attention to every external muscle of the animal’s body, with the trunk raised high. Two of the front feet are signed with Baccarat acid signature. (I removed one of the protective pads on the foot to show the signature).

About Baccarat Company: Founded in 1765, this legendary and world famous glasswork manufacturer derives its name from the then village and, at present, the town of Baccarat, in France, where it was established. Very soon, the Baccarat glassware became a serious rival to and had even surpassed the Venetian Murano and the Austrian Bohemian glassware. Famous for its home décor and glassware, in 1993 Baccarat had added crystal jewelry and perfume to its brand. In addition to the headquarters and two Museums in Paris, Baccarat has a chain of stores worldwide. Its manufacturing center remains on its original site- the town of Baccarat.
