“Jewels Of Legendary Splendor” by Hobe: A Staple Of An Elegant Women Wardrobe….
From my personal collection -- This high end demi parure is quite a rare and a breathtaking jewelry set. Both the brooch and the earrings are oval and are crafted in a high polished 18 KT gold plated metal. The brooch is exquisitely and ornately designed on an open work filigree gold tone metal base. It’s domed surface is encrusted with rows of faux turquoise and sparkling sky blue faceted round crystals, creating an ombre effect. The bejeweled rows are interspaced between filigree design of gold wire . Prong set cabochons and crystals are set in an oval shape at the center of the dome . The obverse, textured side of the brooch has a round cartouche imprinted with HOBE signature. The domed, oval clip on earrings are impeccably crafted on a concave ornate metal base. The oval shape design of the clustered, prong set turquoise and sky blue crystals mirrors the oval design of thee brooch’s center and is identical in size. It is set on the metal base of the earrings and is framed by an open work, ornate golden wire ring. Please note the special construction of the earring’s clip which is equipped with a Hobe patented resin roll serving as a protective ear cushion. The outside of the clip is imprinted with the HOBE signature.

ABOUT HOBE CIE. (1887-1990): The opulence and the splendor of Hobe jewelry which became known here as “Jewels of Legendary Splendor” have their roots in fine jewelry of Europe and in the long family goldsmithing history over two continents. The family business was established in 1887 in Paris, France by Jacques Hobe who was a jeweler to the Royal Court of France. His son William had apprenticed at the family business becoming also a renown fine jewelry designer. William Hobe left France, settled in New York and in 1927 had established the HOBE CIE, which at the beginning of the American costume-jewelry boom between the two world wars. Florence Ziegfeld commissioned the company to design stage costume jewelry which, in turn, led to Hobe’s long association with Hollywood and its most famous stars. His knowledge of the history of the European royal courts’ jewels had led to the creation of the most opulent and artistic costume jewelry pieces. Hobe jewelry became renowned for its artistry, usage of semi-precious gems, heavy gold and silver plating, filigree metalwork, portrait miniatures and floral pins, to name a few. By the 1950’s, with the change in the fashion trends, Hobe’s jewelry became more modern, less elaborate but still very beautifully designed and crafted. The Hobe family business stopped its operation in the early 1990’s. A company named Hobe continues to manufacture jewelry marked as Hobe under a differently designed mark
