A yad (Hebrew: יד, literally "hand") is a Jewish ritual pointer, popularly known as a Torah pointer, used by the reader to follow the text during the Torah reading from the parchment Torah scrolls.
This Yad has a particular chain to be worn on the neck for the constant Torah reading. This and the silver wear signs on the end of the Yad show not only the age of this Yad, but the fact, that it was used by a constant Torah student (Raby)
