This is a rare 22 inch unusual wax over papier-mâché doll. It has many English and continental attributes. She has as her slit head for hair insertion and her cloth body is also typical of a slit head wax doll. She also has a black painted circle on her head which could make her Continental or German. 'Biedermeier Style is 1815-45.'
As might be expected for this type and age of doll, she does have some faults. A flake of wax off the tip of her nose and she a small amount of hairlines to her wax face and shoulder plate. She has a hole to each foot's material, one is patched see photo. She has original dolls clothes of the period although her dress was dyed pink at a later date. It has some damage to one sleeve. The low cut dress is perfect as it is cut to reveal her breasts, which are very rare for a doll of this type.
