Shades of chocolate brown rhinestones and beautiful pearls with a large center beige pearl are an example of the unique blend of interesting stones Schreiner is famous for. The back is clearly signed SCHREINER but note the construction elements that are unique to his brooches: the cupcake settings, hook and eye construction and two layers to create the dome. Excellent condition - some slight wear to foil backing of stones but only noticeable under magnification. Exquisite! Size: 3 inches round; Circa: 1950s
Evolving from a blacksmith to buckle fabricator and then finally to costume jeweler, Henry Schreiner is responsible for designing some of the most intricate and uniquely colorful costume pieces. His work has appeared on the cover of Vogue in the 1950s. The Schreiner of New York brand continued after Henry's death in 1954 with his daughter and son-in-law until the late 1970s. Schreiner pieces are coveted by collectors.
