Originating in Paris in 1887 by Jacques Hobe, the Hobe jewelry company has an outstanding reputation for fine costume pieces. Jacques' son, William, is credited with bringing the brand to the United States and being a master craftsman himself. A serious student of period design, William was able to translate historical designs to modern settings and also created many set designs for the motion pictures. The company closed in 1995.
An absolutely gorgeous example of late 1940s, early 1950s jewelry, this three piece set is signed Hobe' on each piece. Large dark and light blue rectangular faceted rhinestones are surrounded by sparkling crystal baguette rhinestones. All set in rhodium plating, bright and shiny after 60+ years.
