The huge oval piece of agate in this Victorian brooch measures a full 55mm x 40mm. In shades of carmel, brown and white the design is intricate and interesting. The gold plated setting is etched all around and the decorative prongs are a rode gold color. The pin closure is tight and is the old open C clasp with an extended pin. It was explained to me that this was a practical approach to assure that the pin would stay secure and allow it to pass through material twice. Purchased in England. Condition is very good.
