Love it when I find vintage jewelry with its' original tags. Sad that no-one ever wore this beautiful set though. Set in rhodium plating, a member of the platinum family, these round crystal stones sparkle like new. Small triple rows of crystal rhinestones on each side ending with a hidden push clasp, demonstrating the attention to detail in Hobe pieces. Purple baguette rhinestones adorn the bridge and ends of the necklace and earrings. All pieces in this set are signed in addition to the original tag and in MINT condition.
HOBE: The Hobe jewelry business began in Paris in 1887. In the 1920s they made jewelry for the Zeigfield Follies and in the 1940s and 50s Hobe focused on Hollywood stars and fashion models. This set is most likely from the 1950s or 60s, when the company made jewelry from rhinestone, glass beads and semiprecious stones.
