Vendome jewelry was one of several lines created by costume jewelry manufacturers Coro. Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger established Coro in New York in 1901. The founders hired jewelry designers to create their jewelry. Coro marketed jewelry using different brand names according to the quality of store that sold the products. Carrying Vendome-branded items, which were from the top end of their line, meant that stores could not stock the less expensive Coro line. This means that from the 1950s, fine specialty stores stocked Vendome jewelry, and stars, including actor Natalie Wood, appeared in the brand advertising.
