A beautiful signed Hattie Carnegie set, new old stock. It is wonderfully colorful with shades of blue, purple, lavender in faceted, aurora borealis coated glass beads. The necklace has 3 strands of beads and both edges of the gold strands are marked Carnegie. The matching clip earrings are a wonderful floral cluster of beads with cascading dangling beads that all match the necklace. They are also marked Carnegie on the back. The set is pristine and a real treasure for one who loves Carnegie quality.
Carnegie was a fashion designer and her vintage costume jewelry had to be of high quality since she was selling dresses for $175 and fur coats $100,000. Sometimes her jewelry was signed HC, Hattie Carnegie, or Carnegie and sometimes it was unsigned as requested by some department stores at the time. Hattie Carnegie designs are in the collection holdings of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City; and at the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History in Boynton Beach, Florida.
