This wonderful Polcini set, with it's original hang tag, is truly elegant. A substantial, yet dainty necklace with heavy rhodium plating and a hidden box clasp with a safety chain. The necklace is designed in a series of double curves of tiny rhinestones, paying homage to the Art Deco style. The lovely brooch is the same design but executed in sprays of leaves with a ribboned edge. I don't believe these pieces were ever worn, as they are in excellent condition and still have the tag.
Ralph Polcini immigrated to the United States from Italy, establishing his first costume jewelry company in 1911. Originally called Leading Jewelry, the company changed its name to Ledo after World War II. Upon the death of Ralph Polcini in 1954 the name was changed to Polcini. The jewelry produced by Ledo/Polcini is of extremely high quality, with excellent metalwork, high quality rhinestones, and "real look" designs. Their styling paid deference to the Art Deco Era.
