Classic 1950s Crown Trifari gold plated faux pearl and rhinestone and earring set. This one is in it's original navy blue cloth fold over presentation case and has an original tag, obviously never worn. What a very special find and one I hope the happy owner will wear. I found an ad for Trifari for this set, dating 1954. It was called "Trade Winds".
Necklace: 16.5 inches, Clip earrings: 1 inch; Condition: Excellent; Circa: 1954
Considered a "founding father" of costume jewelry, the Trifari jewelry brand was created by Gustavo Trifari Sr. and Leo F. Krussman in 1918 and later added a third partner, Carl Fishel. In 1930 Trifari hired Alfred Philippe as head designer, and that is when the company really began to take off. Philippe’s background designing very high end fine jewelry for firms like Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels brought a wonderful sense of luxury and style to the company. Pieces by Phillipe are highly sought after and have recently increased in price. Trifari ceased production in 1999.
Jewelry is like the perfect spice, it compliments what is already there!
