This gorgeous brooch has taken me on a journey to discover its origin. A rare and unusual piece is from the 1920s-1930s in an Austria-Hungarian revival. Designed by Bliss Brothers in an multi layered intricate brass base with enamel work, marcasite, rhinestones and glass cabs. The brooch is signed with a large B with a B in the top loop of the large B and a C in the bottom loop of the big B. That was my first clue. Illusion Jewels helped me identify it as that of Bliss Brothers Company, a jewelry manufacturing company located in Attleboro, MA and in business from 1896 to the 1950s. I purchased it in Massachusetts. There is so much going on in this brooch, each detail providing interest and joy. A highly collectible piece, you will not come across many examples of this filigree design. Bliss Brothers did enamel compacts, bangle bracelets and lockets but few pieces such as this. This gorgeous filigree brooch is bejeweled with green, blue and gold rhinestones, green blue domed cabs & tiny little marcasites. It also has tiny enameled leaves and flowers scattered over the layers.
Size: Large at 3.25 x 2.5 inches; Condition: Very Good with enamel in tact, no stones or pearls missing, and the metal is in good condition.
