The history of the brand “Original by Robert” dates back to 1942. Founded by Robert Levy, David Jaffee, and Irving Landsman as Fashion craft Jewelry Company NYC, in 1950, it was renamed to Robert Originals, Inc. Known for its' dramatic and theatrical flair, Robert Originals supplied pieces for productions like Viva Zapata. Founder Robert Levy played a major role in the company's success up until his retirement in 1975. His retirement was followed by Ellen Jaffe (David Jaffe's daughter) taking over as head designer and president eventually renaming the brand Ellen Designs, Inc. in 1984 and still in business today.
