A handmade, updated version of the sautoir necklace so popular in the 1920s, this creation by Lawrence (Larry) Vrba is just a marvel. Black glass faceted beads, gold plated caps, crystal rondelle beads, big chunky rhinestone encrusted oval inks and a 6 inch drop pendant of sheer gorgeousness. You are going to love this necklace and so is everyone else. Here's what the WSJ wrote in a fashion article on sautoir necklaces in an article from March 2017: "Unlike necklaces that fall higher up the body, sautoirs, with their longer form, draw the eye to the tassel or stone hovering around the waist. They may have been a response to more streamlined fashions—such as column dresses—of the 1920s, but their embellishments were often far from restrained....Sautoirs are just as enthralling today—perhaps because that flexibility of purpose, which made them so alluring in the early 20th century, still holds. "

Larry Vrba has a long and illustrious career as a jewelry designer and is absolutely one of my favorites. A former jewelry designer for Miriam Haskell in the 1960s and 1970s, Larry or Lawrence Vrba, launched his own line of costume jewelry. Vrba is also known to design pieces for Castlecliff.. All hand-made, Vrba's jewelry is typically gold-tone or pewter metal bases. Vrba's workmanship is exceptional and his designs are works of art and engineering. Vrba costume jewelry is still being made today, all hand made and in small quantities.
