Double strand of beautiful light green beads, each hand knotted in between and finished with a large green rhinestone emerald cut decorative clasp. The clasp is so attractive it can be worn on the side. The clip earrings are a cluster of the same matching beads. Signed Carnegie, this is a great set to wear and to collect. Born Hattie Kanengeiser in Vienna in 1886, Hattie Carnegie updated her moniker in the early 1900s, taking the last name of Andrew Carnegie, one of the wealthiest men at the time. Carnegie started her costume jewelry business in 1939 which grew in popularity with the help from designers like Pauline Trigere and Alexis Kirk. Many designs included rich-looking stones and some animal figures, however, one of the most famous Carnegie pieces were the Asian Princess Brooch. The Carnegie salon closed operations in 1965, but the rights to the Hattie Carnegie jewelry line were sold to Larry Josephs in the 1960s and continued to produce Carnegie pieces until the 1970s.
