Intricate leaves with a dual tone rhinestone in the very center, this signed Schiaparelli piece is both interesting and elegant. The stone would have had a second color added during the manufacturing process, appearing as a stripe when held to the light. These stones are called givre. Three tiny crystal rhinestones surround the center stone and add sparkle. A lovely effect in this well made, highly collectible brooch.
Size: 2.5 x 2.5 inches; Condition: Excellent; Circa: 1955+
Known for her use of her signature "shocking pink" color, Elsa Schiaparelli is a giant in the world of couture. Italian by birth and one-time New York City resident, Schiaparelli launched her house of couture in Paris and employed amazingly gifted designers to create her jewelry accessories. To name just a few: Jean Clement, Lyda Coppola and Jean Schlumberger all created custom designs for Schiaparelli. Many of her jewelry designs were imported by D. Lisner & co. Later she licensed her name and the Ralph De Rosa Co. made jewelry for the American market. Elsa Schiaparelli passed away at the age of 83 in Paris in 1973. Everything Schiaparelli is highly collected.
