Very pretty and sparkly rhinestone circle pin with big round oval rhinestones enhanced with small crystal rhinestones. The brooch swirls and has crystal baguettes adorning the ribbon shape. Much prettier than photos and in very good shape. Reflections are from my red camera or my clothes. The back is signed Trifari Pat Pend.
Size: 1 5/8 inches round; Condition: Very Good: Circa: 1960s
Considered a "founding father" of costume jewelry, the Trifari jewelry brand was created by Gustavo Trifari Sr. and Leo F. Krussman in 1918 and later added a third partner, Carl Fishel. In 1930 Trifari hired Alfred Philippe as head designer, and that is when the company really began to take off. Philippe’s background designing very high end fine jewelry for firms like Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels brought a wonderful sense of luxury and style to the company. Pieces by Phillipe are highly sought after and have recently increased in price. Trifari ceased production in 1999.
