Cartoon cuff links and rubber-strap watches have their place somewhere – just not on your dress shirt or wrist. Thankfully, centuries-old Swiss watchmaker Blancpain has a solution that predates both challenges, designed circa 1960-65. The cuff links are 18K gold, of course, in a classic ball-and-bar design that transcends eras and whims. But the truly rare prize here is a small-scale Blancpain movement keeping time on one link (no need for a duplicate on the other since you can’t be in two places at once). Though not formally inspected at Blancpain’s headquarters in Villeret, correspondence from their in-house specialist confirms this style parallels their midcentury offerings. A stunning addition to your collection, in fully functioning order; the watch was wound and kept perfect time for 28 hours. The width of the watch cuff link is approx. 13mm including the crown. Total weight 12.9 grams (watch cuff link, 7.7 grams; sphere cuff link 5.2 grams).
