It’s 1923. There’s a gentlemen’s rivalry on the squash court at the Princeton Club, and it can yield just one winner. We can only imagine what trophy that guy got – but the second-place fellow took home this swanky prize. Though his name may be lost to history, we do know is that his initials were REF. Fast-forward to today and Mr. F’s takeaway from that momentous day can be yours. This near-pristine Jazz Age set is fine-stripe sterling silver, with bands of rose gold and green gold.
The monogrammed cigarette case (or exemplary safekeeping for anything else) is 4 1/4” x 3” (134.1 grams); the companion match case is
2 1/2” x 1 5/8” (38.8 grams). The duo’s handsome, original presentation box is in excellent condition and lined in beige satin and velvet, embossed in gold with “Invitation Squash Tournament – Princeton Club – 1923 – Second Prize”.
An outstanding gift for anyone – squash playing and smoking not required.

Condition Report: Please note that this item was probably locked away for years, with a slight antique musky whiff, more museum backroom than damp basement. The velvet in the case also shows markings from the sterling from storage. Due to individual preferences in sterling, we only lightly polish our pieces.
