Art Deco jewelers had a flair for the daring, not just with innovative shapes but the mixing of gems as well. Here, a really good-sized, emerald-cut citrine (14+ carats, actually) shares its tawny splendor with a spray of rubies (each approx. 2.4 mm) – but just on two sides, an early example of less-is-more. The entire gem show rises from a 14K yellow gold setting that is pure art itself, an open sculpture of curves and soft angles – airy, but this is no lightweight. The ring checks in at 9.4 grams. Size 8 1/4 . Includes gift presentation box.
