An hand painted scenic vase by Noritake-Morimara Bros. Japan ca. 1910's-1921. The vase is a hexagonal urn shape with oriental inspired handles. The vase is finished in mate light brown and sage green glazes and features a band of maple leaf motifs around the shoulder and the lower half. The maples leaves have been outlined in white enamel to bring out the details. The landscape which goes around the vase includes a swan on a pond with trees and birds in the background. Bordering the scenic painting are two bands of fine green enameled beading. And the handles have fine brown enameled beading and scroll work. Such attention to details and artistic handiwork are not seen in today's decorative housewares therefore is important that we preserve these small treasures from the past. This vase is one such treasure and I am happy to say is in excellent condition without chips, cracks or repairs. Only minor wear and soiling form its approximate 100 years of age. The vase bears the "Hand Painted Nippon with the wreathed M" which corresponds with the Noritake Co.-Morimara Bros. Japan ca. 1910's-1921. Measurements are 6" T X 3 1/2" W.
