A Consolidated (Phoenix) Glass vase in the Chickadee pattern, mold No.2589, which was part of the Martele' - Hand Wrought Art Glass line designed by Reuben Haley in 1926. The Martele' line was part of the giftware glass in production between 1926-1963. This example is in sepia (brown) wash on crystal which adds depth to the molded design. This art glass vase appears in the reference book " Phoenix & Consolidated Art Glass 1926-1980" by Jack W. Wilson photo plate #53 on page 63. The pattern is of two birds perched among boughs of blossoms. The pillow form vase has a rectangular outline that graduates from base to shoulder and has a flush finished collar. Both the front and back have the bird design and the sides are fully molded with the blossoms so the piece can be viewed in the round. A very lovely piece that with close inspection reveals its hidden beauty. Measurements are 6 1/2" T X 5 1/2" W X 3 1/2" D. The piece is in mint condition.
