Hand painted china plate with a scene of mushrooms in shades of taupe, beige and peach set among green mosses. The background is in pale peach and yellow. An unusual subject matter, one is more familiar with plates decorated with flowers. These are not the "mod" mushrooms from the 60's and 70's, these are more realistic. This plate is signed on the back by the artist E.M. Laughlin, probably a hobbyist. There are makes marks, but I believe this piece was just a common china blank decorated by the hobbyist. It is undamaged and measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter. A nice piece to add a bit of soft color to kitchen or breakfast nook.
