Wax over papier mache composition 9" doll in style of Alice in Wonderland molding from approximately 1860-1880.
This is a wax over papier mache composition shoulder head doll that is 9" tall in style of Alice in Wonderland molding with painted headband from approximately 1860-1880.
She has an antique body, glass eyes, carved wooden lower arms and from knees down. Her carved feet are painted to appear as black boots with 3 painted buttons. Her outfit is antique lace criss-crossed for her blouse and black satin trimed with cranberry colored ribbon for her belt and back tie. There is an overskirt that is over her longer skirt and the overskirt has a worn slit in front about 2-1/2" long, it blends in with the pleats of the skirt and there is the same black material underneath it. She has a slip and long pantaloons with antique lace.
She has some surface scratching on her wax covering, some paint wear to her headband and some paint wear of paint on her arms and legs. There is a piece of paint missing from the back of her left boot.
Her hair is molded with waves in the styling called Alice because of the painted and molded head band.
