German composition socket head doll 17" tall, Amusco, from 1920's.
This is a German composition socket head doll that is 17" tall, believed to be manufactured by Amusco, from 1920's approximately. Amusco was a German company that made composition head dolls. The imprint at the back of it's head is hard to read but looks like Amusco. It does say 'Germany'. Her body is made of composition, upper legs and ball joints are made of wood. Her hands look French.
She wears vintage one piece underwear, not known if original. She has replaced newer slip. She has pink leather shoes. She has vintage cotton knit knee socks. In picture one sock is rolled down to show her leg. Her very pretty cotton dress and bonnet has a blue floral print and is a newer replacement but of antique style.
She has blue glass sleep eyes with good hair lashes and painted lashes. She has good eyebrow brush strokes, good lips and open mouth that shows three teeth.
Her hair is a dark auburn brown color and is matted in the style it was styled in. She has some paint rubs on tip of nose and a couple cheek rubs. There is some darker glue remnants under her hair behind right ear under her hair. She has some paint rubs on body and chip and craze line on right shoulder.
