This item is a great piece of folk art or maybe prisoner art. The piece is 4" tall on a detachable turned wood base that is 3 1/2" in diameter. The shell is attached to the base by a metal threaded collar. The decoration is a sailboat under full sail with a man at the tiller. There is a city on the right side of the shell above the striated lines of the water. There is raised lettering in the sky area that reads, "R. Di Anzio". It is a charming piece carved on what looks like a cameo shell that would grace any room with a nautical theme. There is no damage on the shell, and only a small nick in the base where a small piece came out of a knot during turning. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to make an offer.
