This item is a Jack in the pulpit vase attributed to the Boston Sandwich Glass Company circa 1860. The vase is 5 1/2" tall, 4 1/2" across the upper section, with a body diameter of 2 7/8" and there is a broken pontil mark on the bottom. The oxblood rim of the vase is strong and flows into the light blue base color of the piece. The tool marks are visible where the rim was held and pulled to form the typical shape of the Jack in the pulpit form. The is a lump in the glass on the interior neck, but there are no chips, cracks, flakes or repairs on this wonderful early piece of Art Glass.
