Who knows the story this items could tell of all the people who availed themselves of its shop services. This is a very early English 19th century, possibly Georgian, pawn shop sign. Originally the wood balls would have been gold leafed and you can still see the traces of the gilding. The balls are on a cast iron frame, which is now very pitted, as shown in the photos. This is normal and expected for an item of its age which spent its life outdoors. A very substantial piece measuring 27 inches across by 24 high, the balls are approx. 7 inches in diameter.
