Very decorative confiserie boxes for chocolate and bonbons. The boxes have some age and I believe date from 1920s or 30s, with the rectangular box being the later of the two as it has a stylized Art Deco look to it. Lovely collectible items.
The oval box is marked with the chocolate maker’s label, A La Marquise de Sevigne, a famous French Chocolatier that took on that trade mark in 1898. This box has a delightful painted top with a slight texture, and braided edging.
Both boxes are made of thick card and are in very good condition with beautiful strong colours and very clean interiors. The rectangular box has a stain on the bottom, underside of the box. Please examine the photographs to help make your assessment of the boxs’ appearance and condition. Please email if you would like further photographs or information.
The oval box measures 7.5inches (19 cm) in length and the length of the rectangular box is 10 inches (25.5 cm).
