Solid hard wood tea caddy dating from late 19th or early 20th century. It is a well made, solid piece, and has been attractively hand carved in a folk art style. I am not precisely sure of its origins, but believe it is continental European. On the bottom there is the original label but, unfortunately, it is darkened with age and I cannot read it. The wood has been stained to look darker and there is a wood lined interior.
The original silver foil lining is still in place for the most part, albeit with a little wear showing its age.
The caddy is in very good condition, structurally sound and the lid closes flush. There are some minor surface marking, being an expected part of its antique patina. Please examine the photographs to make your assessment of the box and please do not hesitate to contact me if you need further information.
Overall an attractive and useful item.
It measures 5.25 inches (14cm) square x 5.25 inches (13.5cm) high.
