During the late 19th century, this fireplace screen was made to cover an unused fireplace or block excess heat. It has a solid, free-standing, walnut frame with decorative carving. The needlework depicts a courting couple surrounded by a wreath of flowers. The gentleman plays a lute for the young lady.
