Even the best of us get things wrong occasionally. Since this pin was unsigned, I always thought it was by the great David Mandel of The Show Must Go On fame. However, I recently noticed an identical one in a jewelry reference book. Sure enough, I was wrong and it was created by the equally revered Robert Sorrell of Thierry Mugler and his own namesake, of Sorrell Originals.
At some point this pin probably had a cobra-style collar necklace -- that's what the brackets on the back of the pin is for. Of course, it is fabulous as a brooch. Don't be surprised when you notice people ogling your chest -- they're just looking at this true work of art.
