While I was collecting in the 1990's, I would occasionally "hunt" in NYC and, once in a while, come across delightful fruit pins, necklaces and bracelets -- never signed. Then someone revealed the designer's name -- Anka. I finally met Anka and found out her secret. She would make trips to Rhode Island to factories that were out of business and buy old vintage stock from them -- beads...fittings...and fruit. She then put them all together and created pieces that had a vintage look...and her look alone. This pin is a prime example of 20 pieces of vintage fruit to make this fun and fruity brooch.
