Here is a beautiful Antique French Time Only Bracket Clock for buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself!
Offered here is a 125 plus year old French Clock. The clock has been running since we acqired it. This clock is very ornately done. Appears to be enamel on metal, has a wood topper with crown. The movement has an open escapement wheel which can be seen thru the glass back door. Interesting tall legs on this clock that are intact and adorned with Cupids.
The base is made of metal and is gold colored, some finish loss. Great gold colored embossed trim ring around the base of the clock. 6 gold colored columns that are fluted holder the gold colored topper dome in place. Topper and top of clock case are loose and need some tightening attention. The center part of the topper appears to be made of wood, the trim and topper ball are brass. Dragon or Dolphin side trim pieces that are intact.
The clock was most likely made in the 1850s to 1870s period. The maker of the clock is not marked anywhere, definitely French, but not marked as such.
The brass look clock and metaled enamel case is all there. Some loss of finish to the gold colored lacquered components. No dents, cracks or repairs. The slate base piece the cupids are by has a .5" hairline on the front left side. What you see is what you get. Cannot say if all the pieces are here or not.
The slate or porcelain clock face is very eye catching with the gold colored numbers. Shows some chipping around the wind arbor hole and a couple of hairlines across the face. The gold clock hands are in place, the minute hand looks older and less ornate than the hour hand. Nice old antique key comes with this clock as well.
Nice looking brass movement here. The serial number of "5619" is engraved in the center bottom of the back plate of the movement. No servicing or cleaning of the movement has been performed. Glass back door that allows you to see the open escape wheel running on the back plate of the movement. Clock springs feels sound when keyed. So selling this clock in running condition.
The Antique French Mantel Clock stands 14.25" tall, by 8.25" across, by 6" wide. The clock face is 3-1/16" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.
As can be expected when dealing with an antique clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
