Nice vintage Buescher True Tone LP Saxophone for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!
Nice Buescher Saxophone for you here. Has serial number 137149 which would say it was produced in 1923. The emblazoning on the body of the saxophone says, "The Buescher" and "Elkhart Ind". This appears to be an alto LP Saxophone, you be the judge before acquiring.
The saxophone appears to have its' original nickel (silver) finish on it. There is some sort of other finish over the saxophone that wipes off gradually with just a glass cleaner will come off completely with say rubbing alcohol.
We would expect that this saxophone will need to be serviced for it to be played again. No work has been done to it, selling it as we acquired it. The mother of pearl buttons are on all the tabs that they should be. This is a low pitch saxophone.
A couple of very minor dings on the bell below the emblazoning and the large valve and another down on the side on the bottom. none that would impact the playability of this saxophone. We see no cracks or repairs to the body of the saxophone. The guard over the valve cups are all in place and still securely soldered to the sax body.
The mouthpiece has the maker markings of Rolando on it. Has the letter "C" on it as well. The mouthpiece is pitted on the side the reed would attach to. The bracket to hold the reed in place is not there. There is no case with this saxophone. The pads look old and will need replacing. One of the springs to pull the cup back from one pad cup is not operational. Cannot say if the tensile strength is still good on the other springs or not. The tightening screw for the neck to attach to the body is a little bent.
This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition. There most likely will need to be restoration work done to make this instrument playable again. The saxophone is 27-1/8" long with the neck in place, by 16.5" across (mouthpiece in place), by 5" wide. The bell opening is about 3-1/8" on the inside, 4-11/16" the outside perimeter of the bell. There is no case with this saxophone. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
