Check out this beautiful Antique Wittmer Violin Bow for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself!
It appears the bow is made of a brazil wood. Has a rounded shaft. This is a Wittmer violin bow made in Germany, a shop bow, probably not an individual maker. Under the frog is impressed "Germany".
Minor loss of the finish along the shaft. Nice looking frog on it. No cracks, splits or missing pieces to the ebony, mother of pearl or other materials. The bow has no cracks, splits or repairs to the wood that I can see to report to you. "WITTMER" impression on the shaft above the frog. The bow still has a great finish on it. Good camber. Strong flex to the shaft and I can ascertain no warping, splits or repairs to report to you. The bow has a black and antique white winding on the shaft. Beautiful tip on this violin bow as well.
The mother of pearl inlays are in place on the sides of the frog and along the bottom. Appears to be a silver and ebony end screw. The bow is 29-1/8" (736.6mm) long. The bow weighs 2.ounces (56 grams) with no horse hair on it. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
