Here is a great New Haven Steeple Case clock for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!
This clock has a beautiful Cathedral or Steeple look wood case on it. All the trim work is there as are the wood legs. The case has some minor finish loss and crazing across the entire case. The clock was made in the late 1920s by New Haven. Not sure what model clock this is. The wood case is made of mahogany. The rear wood door is securely attached to the case. The knob is even still with it. The fabric is also in the door sound hole.
Nice looking silver colored metal clock face. The numbers and minute marks are incised into the face. The black hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The bezel is securely attached to the case by the hinge, a little tight at the hinge. The concave beveled glass is intact, no cracking or blistering.
Good l00king brass movement in the case. This clock has an 8 day movement. The pendulum that shows in the pics, does not come with the clock. We are providing a vintage pendulum of appropriate weight and length. The clock comes with a key that will adjust the speed and wind the three springs. The 3 springs feel sound when keyed. The New Haven name is impressed on the back plate of the movement. The last patent date year on the movement is 1923. The clock is in running, striking and chiming condition.
The clock does the Westminster chimes on the quarter hours. The clock also strikes the hours on the hour.
The clock stands 13-7/8" tall, by 9" across, by 7" wide. The clock face is 5.5" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
As can be expected when dealing with an antique clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned, there is a 10% restocking fee to do so. So, please carefully review all the attached pictures, ask all the questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the item on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it.
