Here is a nice Vintage Wood Game Box with Playing Pieces for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself. Probably dates to the early 1900s to 1920s.
Nice oak game box here. The box has all sorts of brass detailing on the corners and sides. Some loose, some are in the case. There is a split on the top of the case. The case has a lock, there is no key. The top is securely attached to the rest of the case by the hinges.
A brass escutcheon is set in the middle of the top of the case. There is a wood pull out tray. Brass carrying handles are still in place on the sides of the case. Case has a wood base. The left front of the base has a piece missing out of it.
We see no maker's mark or country of origination noted anywhere on the game case. The wood chess playing pieces are all there. Each king is 3-3/16" tall. A pawn is 1-11/16" tall.
The game case also comes with wood checkers, dice and other playing pieces. Four wood boxes for playing cards with an emblem of spades, clubs, hearts or diamonds on the top. One of the two dice shakers is there. There is no playing board for the chess/checker pieces.
The Vintage Wood Game Case is 9.25" tall, by 15.25" across, and 10.25" wide. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
