Nice Vintage Seth Thomas Ship's Wall Clock (Time Only, No Strike) for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself!
Nice looking wall clock here. Made by the Seth Thomas Company in the USA. This is not the smaller 4" case model. This is the larger 7.25" case model. Have not take the clock face off to see what the serial number is. Would guess from design that made prior to WWII.
Nice brass lacquered case here. Much of the brass lacquer is off of the bezel, but still on the rest of the case. The numbering and minute marking are done in black on the silver background face. The hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The seconds hand is also in place and moves as expected. The slow/fast adjustment lever is in place on the face of the clock, and seems to work as well.
The brass case is all there. No dings or dents to the metal case. Does show some minor lacquer loss to the case, mostly on the bezel. Might have been re-lacquered at some juncture. The case has a screw off bezel. The glass is intact, no cracks or blistering to the glass.
The clock has an 8 day mechanical brass movement. The wind spring feels sound when keyed. The clock will come with a vintage wind key, not a key that is specifically marked Chelsea. So, the clock is being sold in running condition.
The Seth Thomas Ship's Wall Clock stands 7.25" tall (back plate is 7-5/8"), by 7.25" across, by 2-5/8" wide. The clock face is 4.5" across. A heavy piece, so expect the shipping cost to reflect that. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.
As can be expected when dealing with a vintage clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned, there is a 10% restocking fee to do so. So again, ask all questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the clock on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. Don't be shy, we are always open to reasonable suggestions! This clock is just waiting for the right collector out there to acquire and refurbish for their collection.
