A nicely done Seth Thomas mantel clock like this one does not come along very often. The wood case is just incredible. Look at the inlay on the front and the sides. My guess is this clock is from the early 1930s to 1940s, you be the judge. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself.
Nice looking fluted wood legs that are part of the case on either side of the clock face. The case is in very nice condition. No cracks or splits to the case and all the wood case and trim is there. Some minor crazing to the clock case finish.
Not sure which Seth Thomas model this clock is. If any of you know, please let us know. Your identity would be kept anonymous. Thanks.
Great enamel paint on porcelain face with "Seth Thomas" in Script about a 1/3 of way down on face. No hairlines or cracks in the porcelain face with the exception of a couple of hairlines down by the "6". No metal grommets around the wind holes, do not think there ever were any. The concave glass over the face is intact, no cracks or blistering. Bezel that holds the glass is sound as is the hinge.
The clock was in running and striking condition when we acquired. We have just oiled the bushing and pivot points. The clock strikes the hours on the hour, and one strike on the half hour. Beautifully rich gong sound for a smaller clock. So, the clock is being sold in running and striking condition.
The brass movement has the "ST" logo on it. The clock stands 12-1/16" tall, by 7-7/8" across, by 5.5" wide (by glass & knob). The clock face is 4-3/8" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
As can be expected when dealing with an antique clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.
Make sure that this item meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned, there is a 10% restocking fee to do so. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.
